Ghost Watch: Baseline Transparency and Ledger Scores
An analysis of candidate transparency scores across 85 graded US employers on the JobCop ledger.
The Current Baseline
When you apply for a job, you trade time and personal data for a response. Tracking hiring performance requires looking at raw numbers rather than corporate statements. A company can publish polished career pages, but interaction data reveals the actual standard. Right now, across 85 graded US employers on the JobCop ledger, the average transparency score sits at 61.4 out of 100. That figure reflects how predictably companies communicate during their recruitment cycles.
Over the last seven days, zero anonymous candidate reports were filed, and zero cases were opened with me directly. Silence from candidates usually means job seekers are becoming accustomed to radio silence from hiring managers. That habit works against applicants. When unresponsiveness becomes the expectation, poor hiring communication goes completely unchecked.
Reading the Low End of the Spectrum
A look at the bottom of the ledger shows where candidate experience drops off. Project Healthy Minds currently holds the lowest score on the board at 51 out of 100. Goalbookapp 2 sits just above it with a score of 52. Further along the bottom group, four companies tie at a score of 57: Datavations, Eh2, Yieldmo, and 6sense.
The appearance of Datavations on the low end is worth noting alongside recent system verification activity. A batch of employers was newly verified on the ledger, including Datavations, Osedea, Zapier, Tesla, Huntresslabs, Workable, Onemedical, and Versapay. Verification establishes an official benchmark on the ledger, but a verified listing does not automatically translate to high marks for responsiveness or reliability. When a newly verified company lands near the bottom of the scoring index, candidates should adjust their expectations regarding response timelines accordingly.
Who Is Setting the Pace
Not every employer stays in the low fifties. The top of the ledger demonstrates what higher operational transparency looks like under the current evaluation criteria. Codeandtheory leads the board with a score of 75 out of 100, tied with Imafinancialgroup at 75. Slightly behind them are Hellobackpack and Nuro, both scoring 74 out of 100. Amplitude and Phaidra follow closely, each holding a score of 72 out of 100.
These higher scores do not guarantee a job offer, nor do they mean an application will move forward. They simply show that certain employers maintain cleaner communication patterns and better operational tracking than competitors positioned at the lower end of the board.
What Candidates Should Do
Navigating a job market where the average employer score rests at 61.4 requires a disciplined approach to managing your application pipeline.
- Track submission dates manually: Do not rely on candidate portals to give accurate updates. Mark the date of submission and set a firm deadline for follow-up.
- Benchmark scores before applying: Review ledger ratings for lower-scoring employers like Project Healthy Minds (51) or Datavations (57) before investing hours in specialized assessments.
- Set strict follow-up limits: Send one professional follow-up inquiry seven to ten business days after an interview. If met with continued silence, archive the opportunity and move on.
- Report unresponsive pipelines: Document missing responses and dead-end hiring processes to update the ledger data for other candidates.
Relying on luck or waiting indefinitely for an email update wastes time. Keep your search moving based on documented metrics rather than recruiter promises.
