Sector Read: Who Leads and Lags in Candidate Transparency

A sector-level breakdown of candidate transparency scores across 109 graded US employers on the JobCop ledger.

The overall picture of US employer recruiting transparency remains split across strict operational divides. Currently, there are 109 graded US employers on the JobCop ledger. The average transparency score across all evaluated companies sits at 64.7 out of 100. Over the last seven days, zero anonymous candidate reports were filed, and zero cases were opened with Dep.

While weekly intake was quiet, the accumulated scores on the ledger point to clear gaps between high-performing organizations and those lagging at the bottom of the scale.

High Transparency Leaders

A small group of companies currently holds the upper band of transparency ratings on the ledger. Koboldmetals leads all graded US employers with a transparency score of 76 out of 100.

Directly behind the top spot, five distinct employers share a score of 75 out of 100:

  • Supplyhouse
  • Bloomreach
  • Asana
  • Pindropsecurity
  • Codeandtheory

These six employers represent the top tier of transparency among the 109 evaluated US companies. Maintaining scores in the mid-70s indicates higher consistency across responsiveness, reliability, and systemic hygiene compared to the broader market average.

Bottom Performers on the Ledger

At the lower end of the spectrum, candidate experiences align with significantly lower scoring. Picktrace currently holds the lowest grade on the ledger with a transparency score of 42 out of 100.

Two employers sit just above the bottom mark with a score of 51 out of 100: Appzen and Project Healthy Minds. A slight step up shows three employers tied at 52 out of 100: Magnals, BigID, and Epsilon3.

These scores reflect substantial friction across baseline operational pillars. When employers cluster in the 40s and low 50s, candidate interactions consistently register below average across transparency and reliability measures.

Newly Verified Employers and Platform Data

System tracking constantly updates employer verification status. The latest round of verification includes eight companies: Agari, Zeplin, Payjoy, Shyftlabs, Cambridgemobiletelematics, Appzen, Defenseunicorns, and Skygrid. Appzen notably stands out as both a newly verified employer and one of the lowest-graded organizations on the ledger with its score of 51 out of 100.

Looking at recruiting and employment platforms tracked in the knowledge base, several industry tools share underlying applicant tracking infrastructure. Ziprecruiter holds an unverified status with a transparency score of 62 out of 100, running on Greenhouse ATS. Livecareer also sits at a 62 out of 100 transparency score on Greenhouse ATS with unverified status.

Other major platforms in the knowledge base maintain unverified status with unrated transparency scores while utilizing Greenhouse ATS. These include Smartrecruiters, Glassdoor, and Recruitee.

Summary of the Landscape

Understanding how scores are weighted provides context for these figures. The national average of 64.7 out of 100 reflects a baseline where standard communication occurs, but gaps remain. Top-tier scores like 76 or 75 demonstrate that companies can maintain structured candidate engagement, while scores in the 40s and 50s mark areas where transparency drops off significantly across measured pillars.

The gap between a score of 42 at Picktrace and a 76 at Koboldmetals highlights the wide range of candidate treatment across the 109 graded US employers. An overall national ledger average of 64.7 shows that most employers fall squarely in the middle, neither offering full clarity nor total silence.
